Woman International Master Jan Jodilyn Fronda, mostly known as Coach Jodi by her students in Asean Chess Academy, scored two important wins in the finale of 2019 Women’s National Chess Championship to finish clear first with a total score of 9.5 points out of 13 games; a remarkable undefeated record of 6 wins and 7 draws in a 14-player single round-robin format.
Both the top 2 winners, WIM Jodi Fronda and WIM Shania Mendoza, are now qualified as part of the women’s team that will represent the Philippines in 44th World Chess Olympiad to be held at Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia.
The Grand Finals of Women’s National Chess Championship was held last September 3-12, 2019 at Philippine Academy for Chess Excellence, Quezon City, Philippines.
